When the mysterious Caspar gathers Natalie and her friends Everleigh and Brooke for the second time, she’s ready for an adventure to disperse the turmoil clouding her marriage. Caspar enlists their help in searching for a rumored copy of Lewis Carroll’s handwritten and illustrated manuscript of Alice’s Adventures Under Ground. Natalie is immediately enticed–this is the perfect distraction.

But then Mason joins the team, and suddenly Natalie and her husband are side-by-side on the search for this elusive treasure. Being forced to work together has them tumbling deep into their past, seeking answers to old misunderstandings. When they emerge from the rabbit hole, things aren’t the same. Will they rediscover the love that once held the pages of their life together?

Excerpt

Most of her friends disliked the night, but Luciana Perez regularly declared it her favorite time of the day. When the sun touched the ocean’s edge and the prettiest color of pink filled the sky, Mamá would put the baby to bed while Papi would tuck Luciana and her younger sisters under their covers. He’d snuggle a chair close by, lean near, and read them stories with the silliest of voices. There simply was nothing better than story hour.

She, Marisol, and little Emilia would each be allowed to pick one book. Luciana always chose Alice’s Adventures Under Ground, knowing that sometimes her pick would result in more than one tale being told. Papi loved to recount how the book had been written just for their family many, many years ago. No one else even had a copy like theirs. Mr. Carroll had carefully crafted the keepsake for Luciana’s great-grandmother. He’d wrapped his words and illustrations inside a deep-green cover held together by a beautiful golden spine. Best of all, Papi would point out on the first page where Mr. Carroll’s handwriting inscribed a kind message to help Great-Grandmother remember her daughter who’d died. Papi said this book brought his grandparents happy memories to help lessen the sting of the sad ones.

About The Book

The Rare Jewel of Everleigh Wheaton

Title: The Rare Jewel of Everleigh Wheaton
Series: The Treasures of Halstead Manor
Author: Susan L. Tuttle
Publisher: Kregel
Release Date: January 16, 2024
Genre: Women’s Fiction / Romance

In her search for a rare gem, will Everleigh end up uncovering the true treasure of her heart?

Personal care nurse Everleigh Wheaton knows it only takes a few well-placed lies to ruin a reputation. She’s experienced it time and time again. But there’s a silver lining to repeatedly proving herself: she’s confident and self-reliant.

When she loses yet another job and an enigmatic stranger offers her a potential way out, she’s game. After all, she loves a good mystery, and an invitation to visit the legendary Halstead Manor is irresistible. But she’s not about to let her guard down–especially with the other women who received the same invitation.

A strange voice on the phone tells them he’s gathered the three of them to work together as treasure hunters. The first assignment requires Everleigh to be a traveling nurse for retired FBI agent Gertrude Levine, who has one cold case she just can’t let go of: the Florentine diamond that went missing when the Austrian Empire fell.

With Everleigh’s keen ability to solve puzzles, Natalie Daughtry’s vast knowledge of history, and Brooke Sumner’s connections to the antiques world, they’re bound to track down the diamond. Except that Gertie’s nephew, Niles Butler, doesn’t trust Everleigh’s innocent act . . . even if he finds himself falling for her. Worse, Everleigh’s walls of self-preservation may doom the entire team.

Hints of real-life historical events combined with contemporary characters make this first book in the Treasures of Halstead Manor series a masterful blend of romance, mystery, and strong female friendships. Readers of authors like Denise Hunter and Nicole Deese who enjoy unfolding relationships and the organic discovery of God’s love will relish this new series.

Excerpt

Until her debacle with Palmer this afternoon, the manor had been the hot topic. Speculation became that the Forsythes willed the home to their grandchildren in Scotland, which is why it remained vacant. For a brief stint in the nineties and another in the early two thousands, the house held signs of life, although the town never saw whoever inhabited it. Then, earlier this year, the doors opened once more. Renovations began taking place. Lights shone through the windows at night. But again, the new owner remained an unknown. Had someone purchased the home? Did it still remain in the Forsythe family? Though theories ran rampant, no one had learned the name of the person behind Halstead Manor’s reawakening.

She held up the thick white card, zeroing in on the signature. If she had to guess, the person bringing life back to the manor was named Caspar. And she had between now and tomorrow morning to collect any information she could on him. She loved a good puzzle, and this invitation presented her with one she had every intention of solving.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Never Too Late

Title: Never Too Late
Series: Along Came Love #3
Author: Susan L. Tuttle
Publisher: Iron Stream Media
Release Date: November 2, 2021
Genre: Inspirational Contemporary Romance

Once, her art brought her fame. This time will it bring her love?

Widowed homemaker Rachael Stark isn’t quite sure what comes after her only child leaves for college. To fill her suddenly quiet hours and scrawny bank account, she needs a job. But painful memories prevent her from resurrecting her former art career, and motherhood isn’t much of a résumé. When her best friend needs help recovering from a gunshot wound that occurred in the line of duty, she is there. Finally, someone to take care of.

Evan Wayne won’t let his injury keep him from being a police officer. His dedication to protect the innocent stems from the guilt he carries over having failed his childhood friend. What he needs now is to recover and get back on the streets. Instead, he’s handed a myriad of light-duty tasks by his captain―one of which involves heading up the department’s entry into the town’s annual mural contest. He’s not an artist, but he definitely knows one. And he’ll take any excuse to spend more time with her.

When Rachael agrees to paint for Evan, she never expects to also be drawn into finding answers for the mother of a missing child. As the two friends work side by side on the mural and the case, their feelings move beyond friendship. But with Evan unwilling to leave his dangerous job, and Rachael unwilling to risk another loss of a loved one, their fears may paint over the promise of a beautiful future together.

EXCERPT

He strolled away from her and stopped by a painting of a massive dahlia, one of her favorite flowers. This had been her first attempt at something so detailed. She’d used saturated merlot tones with highlights of claret along the dips and curves of its individually cupped leaves. Chris challenged her to create it—and she had, with Gavin at school and Brianna napping nearby. Her agent, Lanette, took her on because of the promise she saw there. And Jonah hung it when he purchased her the space.

Evan peered over his shoulder at her. “I can see why they called you the next Georgia O’Keefe.”

“You actually know who she is?”

“Sure. A famous painter known for her enlarged flowers.” He turned. “I may have looked her up after googling you and seeing the comparison. Personally, I think yours are better.”

She was a little stuck on the fact he’d googled her and a whole lot stuck on the fact he liked her old paintings. “You may be a little biased.”

His smile fired off nerves inside like those crazy trick candles. She kept trying to snuff out the sparks, but they kept firing right back up. “Maybe.”
