First Line Friday — Christmas At The Jekyll Island Club

22 Dec

Happy Friday before Christmas!! Today I am featuring a historical romance by Blossom Turner, Christmas At The Jekyll Island Club, part of the Romance at The Gilded Age Resorts series. My husband and I love Jekyll Island. In fact we spent a recent weekend there taking in all the beautiful lights in the historic district. When I saw this book, I knew I had to have it. I plan to curl up with it this weekend. Here’s the first line:

Savannah Marie Ensworth threw back her head and laughed.

She was born into privilege yet yearns for freedom. Dare she risk it all for love?

Though spunky Savannah Ensworth was born into wealth and privilege, she longs for the freedom allotted to men. Marriage is the very last thing on her to-do list. As the sole heir to her father’s fortune, she’s in no hurry to turn the freedom that comes with wealth over to a husband.

Bored and restless, she arrives for yet another mind-numbing winter season at the Jekyll Island Millionaire’s Club. There is nothing new under the sun…or so she thinks until she meets Joseph Bennett, the visiting reverend.

As sparks fly, a forbidden attraction grows. But will their very different lives snuff out any hope of a future? And is she ready to give up the freedom she’s always desired for a love that could cost her everything?

Blossom Turner is a free-lance writer published in Chicken Soup and Kernels of Hope anthologies, former newspaper columnist on health and fitness, and an avid blogger. She lives in British Columbia, Canada, with her husband, David, of thirty-six years. A former business woman, personal trainer, and mother of two grown children she is now pursuing her lifelong dream of writing full-time.

A hopeless romantic at heart, she believes all story should give the reader significant entertainment value. However, her writing embodies the struggles of real life. She infuses the reality of suffering with the hope of Christ to give a healthy dose of relatable encouragement to her reader. Her desire is to leave the reader with a yearning to live for Christ on a deeper level, or at the very least, create a hunger to seek for more.

She is an avid blogger who has contributed to the Mount Hermon Blog, Christian Devotions blog, and writes a weekly devotional blog on the names of God. Read more at blossomturner.com.

How fun that you have been to (and enjoyed!) where the book is set! Looks like a much warmer Christmas experience than the book I am featuring today, which is set in the UK.

    Happy Friday!
I am currently reading Spies Don’t Fall for Their Asset by Meg Easton. It’s a super cute story!
“As fun as Addi is, and as great of a distraction as she is, I’m sad that I’m not in a car with Jace right now. Especially because I’ve been hoping for more time with him so I can figure out if things between us are okay.”
I hope you have a wonderful weekend full of relaxing reading time! 😀
