While I say I am an eclectic reader (I read almost all genres), I do limit myself to fiction. Why? I love a good story. And with my advanced years 😉 I need to make sure I read books I enjoy. It’s like eating dessert first! Today’s Top 10 Tuesday prompt is Why I Love Reading — I hope you like my reasons and the books that go along with them.

Yes!
I read some non-fiction every year, but I definitely prefer fiction. I agree with all your reasons for loving a great story!
Happy TTT!

I read both fiction and nonfiction, but I gravitate more toward fiction. I read for many of the same reasons you listed: to expand my horizons, to learn, to experience different viewpoints, to visit places I’ll never go in real life, to experience history, to grow.
I think I need more non-fiction reading, but all the stories keep vying for my attention. 😉
I don’t read mystery nearly as much as I used to, but now and then, I do love to pick up a good mystery, and I always make time for every new Dani Pettrey release. 🙂
Me too!
I love a good story and learning about other cultures and places, too. 🙂
I liked all your reasons, but especially liked Fiction makes me more empathetic. I think that’s so true.
I read Beth Vogt’s book after a friend’s breast cancer diagnosis and it opened my eyes. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even with a lot of friends’ support, that story was very comforting.
I’m so sorry about your diagnosis. I hope you’re doing well now.
Doing great! Thx!
Some great reasons here!
