EXCERPT

The farmer’ market seemed to have sprung up from out of nowhere. Torian had walked along this very parking lot, one that sat empty and abandoned just yesterday, now was a bustle of live.

“Excuse me, sir,”

“Yes, what can I get for you?” the vendor selling a rainbow array of vegetables asked.

“Actually, I was supposed to meet a friend here today and haven’t seen her.” Torian quoted his rehearsed cover story as he pulled out a picture of the young woman and showed it to the vendor. “I was wondering if you saw her.”

“Sorry man, she doesn’t look familiar.” He said. “I think I would remember a pretty face like that.”

“Alright thanks.”

He paused at a few of the vendors that had no customers and struck a conversation with the owners. Casually asking them if they had seen the young woman he was searching for. Hoping to find a hint or clue as to her whereabouts.

Nothing. No one even knew who she was.
