My first line comes from the book I will be reading this weekend — Stratagem by Robin Caroll. I am so looking forward to digging into this suspense novel that features game simulations. It should be a twisting, psychological, rollercoaster reading ride! How about you? Leave a comment with the first line of your current read.
Be sure to head over to Hoarding Books for more fabulous first lines.
A High-Stakes Simulation Adventure Leaves Grayson Thibodeaux the Prime Suspect . . . for Murder
Deep in the gritty underbelly of New Orleans, psychologist Grayson Thibodeaux loses everything when his wife leaves him to climb her company’s corporate ladder. He buries himself in his job of creating mind-bending adventure games for businesses as team-building explorations. When his ex-wife’s company hires Grayson’s to create an elaborate game, he doesn’t see how things can get worse. Until she dies during the course of the game he created . . . making him the prime suspect for murder.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Robin Caroll is a southerner through and through. Her passion has always been to tell stories to entertain others. Robin’s mother, bless her heart, is a genealogist who instilled in Robin the deep love of family and pride of heritage–two aspects Robin weaves into each of her 30 published novels.
When she isn’t writing, Robin spends time with her husband of twenty+ years, her three beautiful daughters and two handsome grandsons, and their character-filled pets at home–in the South, where else?
She serves the writing community as Executive Director/Conference Director for ACFW.
Her books have finaled/placed in such contests as the Carol Award, Holt Medallion, RT Reviewer’s Choice Award, Bookseller’s Best, and Book of the Year.
On her faith, Robin says, “I love Jesus and will follow Him wherever He leads me.”
An avid reader herself, Robin loves hearing from and chatting with other readers. Although her favorite genre to read is mystery/suspense, of course, she’ll read just about any good story. Except historicals! To learn more about this author of deep South mysteries of suspense to inspire your heart, visit Robin’s website at http://www.robincaroll.com.
Happy Friday! My first line is from “This Courageous Journey” by Misty M. Beller:
“Today, we left the train – forever, if my aching limbs could decide the matter.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from One Plus One Equals Trouble by Sondra Kraak! The book is FREE (limited time – this weekend only).
I’m currently reading Under the Same Sky by Cynthia Roemer. I’ll share the first line from chapter 23
“Where’d Mr. Bennett and Mr. Whelan go, Miss Becky?”
Thanks for sharing. Free is always good!
Hi! Happy Friday.
I shared the first couple of lines from my current read, Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi. I have only started it today and am just on the second chapter, so I will share the first few lines from chapter 2 here instead.
Kahina
The girl’s braid hasn’t fallen out in three days. Her hair is sunlight incarnate, and the strand weave together in a smooth and seamless pattern that leaves me sick with wonder. I wish I could speak to her. I wonder if her voice is rough or soft.
Hope you enjoy that. Happy weekend! 😀
Sounds intriguing!
Happy Friday. 😃
Today on my blog, I am sharing the first line from Gone Too Soon my Melody Carlson. So far, I am enjoying the book. I’m just starting chapter 4 in Gone Too Soon, so I will share it’s first line here.
“I don’t think anyone observed me sneak out the backdoor.”
Hope you have an excellent weekend! 📚💜
Great line. Have a wonderful weekend!
I read Stratagem last week! Definitely different!
My first line is from My Heart Belongs in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania by Murray Pura:
It is about the Underground Railroad.
Saturday night, early December 1860
Adams County, Pennsylvania
Five miles north of Gettysburg
It was so black she could not see her hand even if she held it so close it touched her face.
I like Stratagem so far. Anna Belle’s POV is definitely interesting!
I love suspense novels 🙂
I am sharing the first sentence from the book Susie (Ray Rhodes, Jr), on my blog.
I am on chapter six so I’ll share its first line here.
Before their first wedding anniversary, Susie and Charles faced a challenge that threatened to undo them.
Sounds really serious!
Happy Friday! On my blog this week I shared the first line of Searching for You by Jody Hedlund but it’s also my current read so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (8) here: ” Sophie stretched and yawned, relishing the scent of bacon and coffee and something sweet.” I’m good for the bacon but I have to admit I don’t like coffee OR the smell of it (yes, I know I’m the odd-ball lol). Hope you have a great weekend!
Can’t wait to start reading it!
Happy Friday!
Today, my first lines come from A Vineyard Christmas by Jean Stone…
The turnout was better than Annie had expected. It was, after all, a bitter, see-your-breath kind of morning, with a brisk December wind whirling around Vineyard Sound.
Have an awesome weekend and stay warm!😊💕
You too!
On my blog I’m featuring A Tale of Two Hearts: Book 2 in Once Upon a Time Dickens Christmas by Michelle Griep. I’m currently reading A Holiday by Gaslight by Mimi Matthews. Since I’m on Chapter Two, I will share the first line from this chapter. “You told him what?” Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
Good line! Enjoy your book!
