What You Need To Know About The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

16 May

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) goes into effect on May 25, 2018 — in the EU. So why am I talking about this here? US businesses, including lowly bloggers, who “collect” data, e.g. email addresses, from customers or subscribers need to let their European visitors know what we do with their info.

As a reader of my blog, you can subscribe and find out what I am up to from day to day. You get an email letting you know when I post. WordPress is my blogging platform and does this for me, but you leave your email addresses here on my blog. I also host giveaways from time to time, and when you comment for that or just in general, you have to leave your email address.

So what do I do with that data? I let you know if you win a giveaway and when I post. That’s it. No selling of info anywhere, anytime, for any purpose.

If you subscribe to my blog and no longer wish to, please click on the unsubscribe button on the right sidebar. Or hit the unsubscribe option at the bottom of the email you got when I posted this.

And if you are indeed a resident of the EU, I’d love for you to comment on your country of origin. I promise I won’t use the info against you! 😉

Thanks!

I didn’t know about it either until today. This is basically a “just in case”.
