Top 10 Tuesday — Do You Re-Read?

27 Feb

Once upon a time I re-read books. You know those books that speak to the heart, that make their way deep inside a reader. But once I became a book blogger, I rarely had time for anything other than the latest shiny book that made its way into my mailbox or Kindle. I can’t say no to the new books, so I have no time to savor yet again the old. But that doesn’t mean I don’t take them out and look at them. So here is a short list of Books That Should Be Re-read (this list is not exhaustive; we are limited to 10, don’t you know). Do you agree? If you haven’t read them yet, put them on top of your TBR List. That way they’ll make their way to your Re-Read List quicker. πŸ˜‰

I have not read any of these. I will have to check them out. I have to branch out on my genres!

Burning Sky and Water from my Heart are books I have read and have on my shelf. But like you, who has time to re-read? But if I did those two would certainly be included!

They are great, but I still have others by those authors I need to read.

My cousin in law just gave me a copy of City of Tranquil Light – I’m looking forward to reading it!

I have seven bookcases of books I love. I do read some of them again when I have time, but there seems to be so many good books out I’m busy reading those.

I have only read 4 of these (Christy, City of Tranquil Light, Long Way Gone, and Redeeming Love), but they are all good. I have reread the Mitford series, Little Women, the Little House on the Prairie series, the Anne of Green Gables series, the Narnia series, Evidence Not Seen, a lot of Austen’s and Dickens’ books, biographies of Amy Carmichael, Isobel Kuhn, Hudson Taylor, Rosalind Goforth – some of those many times over. I enjoy getting something more or different out of them each time. But there are so many new-to-me books stacked up on my shelves or Kindle, I don’t reread as much as I used to.

I re-read Mrs. Mike over and over in Junior High. Then in High School, it was Rebecca. While my kids were little it was a feat to get my Bible read, but as they grew older I re-read Pride and Prejudice every year. Now the only time I re-read is when the women’s group at the transitional center where I volunteer is having a read along. We are reading Cold Sassy Tree right now. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed that book.

Definetely Christy by Catherine Marshall! Also the first series by Laurainne Snelling, a wonderful place to revisit.
