Top 10 Tuesday — New To Me Authors

2 Jan

This week’s Top 10 Tuesday theme is 2017 New-To-Me Authors. As often as can, I try to include on my reading list authors I have not read. It’s easy to stick to the tried and true, but you really miss out on some wonderful books if you don’t expand the horizons a bit. I am sure that many of the authors on my list will be familiar names to my readers, but I had not read them before 2017. My bad! 😉 How about you? What new author did you read and love this year?

What a thrill to see The Cad on your list, Beckie! I hope you all realize what an encouragement it is (Especially as I do blood, sweat and tears to work on the next one!). But I don’t envy bloggers who attempt to make lists! So many books, so many options and of course we all have different tastes. Bravo for pulling these down to ten! And thank you for the honor and for your support of Christian Fiction! You know… this is the first time I’ve seen Claire Wong and her book. With my nose in so many circles, I wonder how I’ve missed her!

Wong is published by Lion Hudson (England) and is distributed by Kregel in the US. I like reviewing for these publishers because it exposes me to authors I would never have seen before. Check her book out!

Lion Hudson published a series by my buddies Lisa Karon RIchardson and Jennifer AlLee! I agree it’s important to keep a wide range of publishers. I noticed that one of the big awards in Christian Fiction this year had winners from small presses and not just the big five (or whatever they are now!) Thanks!

It is exciting to see recognition for books that may not get the notice they deserve.

12 Days at Bleakly Manor was a fantastic read! I loved how she combined her own story with that of Dickens. Can’t wait for the next one this year 😀

I love that you included the pictures of the authors. Sometimes the book covers get all the visual attention in the blogging world. There are a lot of books I am not familiar with on this list that I will investigate and learn more about.

Hope you choose one to read. Thanks for stopping by!

Like you, I discovered Joanna and Karen this year. But, somehow I missed them for my list! Ah! Here’s my list that made it to 13: https://thegreenmockingbird.wordpress.com/2018/01/02/top-ten-tuesday-top-13-new-to-me-authors-i-read-in-2017/
