Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious–but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life–and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery for her book Suspicious Minds also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush.

My Impressions:
Before picking up Dubiosity, I had only read cozy mysteries by Christy Barritt. But a FB group recommended this one, so I gave it a try. With this novel, Barritt has proven to me that she can write outstanding page-turning suspense with a romantic touch.
Set in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, this novel is filled with conspiracies and intrigue. Migrant workers are getting ill, while others have gone missing. The director of the agency tasked with helping them may or may not have attempted suicide. And many characters are not who they seem. Savannah Harris and Clive Miller team up to investigate, yet their pasts keep getting in the way of truly trusting each other.
Dubiosity is a complex novel with lots of twists and turns and even more suspects. I was suspicious of one character in particular, but did not get final confirmation until the very end. Barritt did a good job of hiding his/her identity. I really liked the two main characters, both of whom had endured trauma and heartbreak, but were determined to find healing and hope. The narrator did a good job as well, giving each character a unique voice.
If you are a fan of Terri Blackstock or Brandilyn Collins, then definitely check out Dubiosity.
