Top Ten Tuesday — 10 Book Related Problems

In thinking about what book related problems I may have, I discovered that all have to do with lacking something — time, space and self control! Oh yeah, I have some major problems. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. But after admitting it, I say who cares! So here are my Top 10 Book Related Problems. (I had to stop at 10!)

Time

1) I don’t have enough years left to read all the books I currently own. I am 54, so I have only about 20-30 years to try to read all the books I have acquired. Well, maybe if I live to be 150 I might have enough time. And if I stopping buying/downloading books — yeah right!

2) I don’t have enough hours in the day to read what I want to read. This problem is due primarily to the fact that I have other claims on my time — family, church, work, volunteering, even sleep. I have worked reading into some meal times, exercise and housework. It’s called multi-tasking, not obsessive-compulsive.

Space

3) I don’t have enough shelves for my books. Although I do have bookcases in many rooms in my house, including hallways and bathrooms, they seem to be overflowing. I have resorted to decorating with books to make space on shelves, but that just leads to the next problem.

4) Flat surfaces in my house are being overtaken by books. I use them to provide foundations for lamps, pictures, plants . . .

Self Control

5) I can’t stop downloading FREE books to my Kindle. I may read that cozy mystery or bonnet and buggy historical . . .

6) I can’t turn down that next book in a series I love, even if I am behind about 3 books.

7) I can’t turn down that book review from the author who has just written the next Great American Novel. Who wants to miss out on that.

8) I can’t resist walking into that Indie bookstore when I am vacationing. They may have books that I need, but don’t know about yet!

9) I can’t resist walking into the Books A Million or Barnes and Noble when I come across them. They are so pretty!

10) I just can’t resist books of any kind! So my house continues to look more and more like a library, my Kindle is filled with books that are calling out to be read, and my life is filled with the wonder of new cultures and new experiences without the need for a passport.

    My name is Kim and I’m a bookaholic! No way will they ever have 12-step programs for us, we are awesome just the way we are!

    😂 Free books online xD I do forgot about that one on my TTT. Hmmm haha I think they need to design houses especially for the needs of readers o.O

    Great list! My book problems include having too many books but always buying more and cover changes! I also hate waiting for a sequel. :/

      Sequels kill me too! I was told once by an author that publishers prefer selling multiple 350 page books versus a 900 page book. I guess that is why Dickens was serialized! Thanks for stopping by.

    Great list! I can relate to so many of these. But here’s an idea. If we could just find a portal into Narnia, we could head there to catch up on reading, stay as long as we want, and return without missing anything in our world. That could solve so many problems, right? 😉
