While at the ICRS last week, I picked up a bunch of books — some fiction, some non-fiction. The books were free and as such had no strings attached — no expectation of reviews, endorsements, etc. The following is a non-fiction title from Kingstone Publishing — Eden Derailed: A Theology of Sex by Matt Williams.
We live in a culture littered with the carnage of sexual train wrecks. Eden Derailed offers answers to life-changing questions for Christians about biblical sexuality. To understand the cause of this personal and cultural derailing – and to restore our vision of what could be, what should be – we have to go back to the beginning and see how the train ride began…
Matt Williams is the Founding Pastor and Directional Leader of Grace Church, in Greenville, SC. He and his wife Vicki stay busy raising their five children. Matt earned a BA from Clemson University and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary. Eden Derailed is Matt’s first book.
Impressions:
I did not read Eden Derailed, but my husband did. Here are his thoughts on the book:
Eden Derailed provides a basic primer on the sexual relationship between men and women as designed by God. It also describes the causes and consequences of sexual sin, before and during marriage. The book gives an overview of the topic, rather than an in-depth study. The path to healing from sexual sin is not dealt with other than letting the reader know that once sexual sin occurs, restoration is needed. Eden Derailed would be good for older teens and young adults as a cautionary lesson. For a more in-depth look at sexuality and the sexual relationship between men and women, The Act of Marriage by Tim and Beverly LaHaye is recommended.
