Thanks to Jennifer at Crazy for Books for hosting the weekly meme — The Book Blogger Hop. Bloggers answer questions concerning all things bookish and then visit around seeing what others have to say.
This week’s question:
What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?
First, I love Pride and Prejudice and have seen a number of adaptations — some horrible —
Pride and Prejudice: A Latter Day Comedy , some campy — Bride and Prejudice, and others great. My favorite adaptation is, of course, the BBC series starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. The sets, costumes, actors all make it very true to
the book.
Now for the movie adaptation I most dislike — Count of Monte Cristo starring Jim Caviezel. The sets were great, costuming beautiful, acting wonderful. So why do I hate it? The Ending. Dumas’ book has such a strong message of mercy and forgiveness, but in this version that is lost. Hollywood went with a more romantic ending and lost the essence of the book. But don’t take my word for it — read the book first. I’m sure you will agree!

I really love the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice too, it is one of my favorite movies to watch.
Let’s kick off Memorial Day Weekend with some scandal and controversy.
I absolutely loved every minute of the Lord of the Rings films and felt they hit the mark when they brought Tolkien’s masterpiece to the big screen.
(ducking as rotten tomatoes are thrown at me as the torches are lit and the pitchforks raised)
