In the shadows of Charleston, someone is watching her

Rylee Monroe, a dogwalker in Charleston’s wealthiest neighborhood, never feared the streets at night. But now a thief is terrorizing the area and worse, someone seems to be targeting her.

Reporter Logan Woods is covering the break-ins with the hope of publishing them as a true-crime book. The more he digs, the more he realizes this beguiling dogwalker seems to be at the center of everything.

As danger draws ever closer, Logan must choose: Chase the girl, the story, or plunge into the shadows after the villain who threatens everything?

My Impressions

Looking for a fun whodunit that will keep you guessing until the end? Then pick up a copy of Beguiled by co-authors Deeanne Gist and Mark Bertrand. The authors not only created a clever mystery with endearing characters, they bring historic Charleston to life for the reader.  I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

Rylee Monroe is a dogwalker to privileged families living south of Broad. Logan Woods is a reporter for the local paper hot on the trail of the Robin Hood burglar.  Their paths intersect and the trouble and fun begins.  The two join forces to find out the connection between Rylee’s elusive past and the mysterious break-ins. At first, the crimes appear to be nothing more than pranks by an eccentric, would-be criminal, but soon become more dangerous and directed towards Rylee.

The characters in Beguiled are well developed and believable.  But more than the characters, the authors brought historic Charleston to life.  You feel like you are there, viewing the sights south of Broad through the eyes of one who truly loves her city.

Check out Beguiled, you’ll love it.

Highly Recommended.
