About The Book

Loving Sarah

Title: Loving Sarah
Author: Jo Huddleston
Publisher: ‎ Forget Me Not Romances, a division of Winged Publications
Release Date: May 12, 2026
Genre: 1950s sweet small-town romance

Sarah wears William’s engagement ring. Then, Robert arrives in town.

In this love-triangle story, Sarah cheerfully manages the candy shop she inherited from her mama. Being engaged to be married to Gatlinburg, Tennessee’s most eligible bachelor, makes her life pretty much perfect. But then she meets Robert and has an unexplainable sense they’ve met before.

Robert travels from Michigan to operate Gatlinburg’s main-street SkyLift attraction while his dad recovers from a fall. He’s miserable being relocated to this Tennessee mountains hick town. That is, until he meets Sarah and feels an instant attraction to her. He’s unaware that the town’s biggest secret involves him.

Although she’s engaged to another, Sarah and Robert are mysteriously drawn to each other. This woman and her beloved mountains curb his desire to return to Michigan. Will Sarah give in to her feelings for Robert or be true to the man she’s promised to marry?

Loving Sarah is steeped in the easygoing culture and traditions of the Smoky Mountains in the 1950s. The story is a sweet, small-town romance with a heart-wrenching battle to make the right choice. This book will keep you turning pages with its mix of loyalty, betrayal, uncertainty, and emotional stakes.

Excerpt

Having grown up in these parts, Sarah knew many local people, but she wondered about this handsome stranger. He appeared extremely familiar, but she couldn’t put a name to him or remember where she might have met him. She didn’t want to be caught staring at him, but she continued to cautiously study him. Maybe it would come to her where she had seen him before.

Being engaged to William didn’t stop her from taking notice of a good-looking man near her age. It was like her frequent window shopping—she looked but didn’t choose to buy anything. After all, he didn’t wear a wedding ring.

His dark auburn hair held just enough curl to flip up in the back over the top of his white shirt collar. Many women in Detroit probably yearned to run their fingers through those curls, so unlike the shorter haircuts of the local men. The stranger didn’t appear to be from around here, with his expensive-looking suit, his shiny leather dress shoes, and the standoffish way he carried himself.

He unnerved her slightly by being near him. Alone in the waiting room, they were seated a respectable distance apart. Nevertheless, something like electricity buzzed between them in the small room. The sensation was like a magnet pulling them together. Once, he took a sideways glance at her. Did he feel the vibrations as well? His leather shoe tapped the floor continuously.

Spotlight on Small Town Contemporary Romance — A Brewed Awakening

13 May
A Brewed Awakening JustRead Takeover + Review Blitz

Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for A Brewed Awakening by Pepper Basham, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About The Book

A Brewed Awakening

Title: A Brewed Awakening
Author: Pepper Basham
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
Release Date: May 5, 2026
Genre: Small Town Contemporary Romance

Daphne dreams of Mr. Darcy. Finn serves up pints and rock music. Can opposites attract when a tea shop princess meets her pub-owning rival?

In the charming mountain town of Wisteria, North Carolina, Daphne Austen clings to tradition like cream to a scone. She’s built her life–and her late grandmother’s tearoom, Tea Thyme–around all things English: delicate china, Jane Austen novels, and the comforting predictability of routine. The only thing threatening her perfectly ordered world? The loud, aggravatingly handsome Brit opening a pub next door.

After his ex-wife broke his heart and his business partner nearly destroyed his career, Finn Dashwood packed up his six-year-old daughter and left England behind. He’s looking for a fresh start, and the last thing he needs is a fussy, tea-obsessed neighbor criticizing his every pint and playlist. It doesn’t matter that she’s ridiculously kind (to everyone else) and that his daughter is utterly fascinated by her. Finn’s heart is not open to being broken again.

But disagreements turn into prank wars and then a competition when a high-profile wedding needs a last-minute caterer. The townsfolk are thrilled–Wisteria hasn’t seen this much excitement since the county fair lost a goat.

When the wedding demands both sweet and savory fare, Daphne and Finn are forced to put down their swords and pick up their serving trays. Between burnt pastries, brewing tempers, trending hashtags (#SipsAndSpats, anyone?), and one very adorable little girl, rivalry soon gives way to reluctant friendship–and maybe something that feels suspiciously like chemistry.

Can a tea shop princess and a pub owner with a past mix their lives as seamlessly as clotted cream and jam . . . or will their differences keep them steeped in rivalry forever?

Excerpt

Finn Dashwood stood in her doorway, looking both out of place and frustratingly at ease, a small container in his hands. His presence alone seemed to dwarf the dainty decor, and the contrast of his dark jeans and fitted gray Henley against the pastel paradise of her tea shop was almost laughable.

He wasn’t a Darcy. Or a Knightley. Or a Brandon.

So he shouldn’t make it work.

And yet . . . he did.

Her gaze drifted to the container he carried, and her heartbeat skittered. Had he actually brought her something?

Could it be that the jerk had a conscience?

“Good afternoon, Miss Austen.”

His voice! That unfair, glorious British accent dipped in baritone.

“Welcome to Tea Thy—” Rosemary’s greeting cut off as her pale-green eyes locked onto Finn. “Goodness. Sakes. Alive.”

“Don’t start,” Daphne muttered under her breath, shooting Rosemary a look, but it wasno use. The woman stared with sheer appreciation and absolutely no self-control of her facial muscles. Nothing like reinforcing Finn’s ego with Rosemary’s impression of a cartoon character who’d just seen a twelve-foot sandwich.

Finn’s grin crooked, clearly missing nothing from the little exchange and Rosemary’s near hyperventilation.

“That new creation looks very suspiciously unlike tea.” He nodded toward the milkshake in her hand.

The residual chill from the ice cream evaporated beneath the sudden flush in her cheeks.

“I happen to serve many things in my shop besides tea, Mr. Dashwood. If you’d taken the time to ask rather than tossing around uninformed critiques, I’d have been happy to enlighten you.”

Why did he seem to bring out her snarky side? And why did she suddenly want to go cook three batches of dark-chocolate croissants.

And why did he have to possess such expressive eyes? Her fingers tightened around the glass in her hands. Tea should only prove a temptation in liquid form.

Not eye color.

“Now, Daphne-honey, that ain’t no way to talk to our new neighbor.”

Granny D had made remarkable speed from her table to the door, clicking her tongue like a chicken on the hunt. “Lord have mercy,” she exclaimed, fanning herself dramatically with a weathered hand adorned with tarnished silver rings. “If you’d told me handsome was comin’ to town, I’d have worn my good teeth.”

Finn turned, brows high, then broke into a slow, amused grin. “Good afternoon, ma’am.” He offered his hand. “Finn Dashwood.”

“You sound as good as you look, don’t ya’?” Granny D hummed her appreciation as she circled him, making no attempt to hide her appraisal. Why did Daphne feel as if the woman was one step away from checking his teeth like a prize stallion at auction?

She almost whimpered.

There were wonderful things about small southern towns.

And then there were . . . these moments.

Happy release day to Eva Marie Everson. Her newest novel, Miss Beth Bettencourt, is now available! Will an unlikely romance tear down Beth’s walls of indifference?

It’s 1962 in Bynum, Georgia, and Beth Bettencourt’s world is turned upside down when she wakes to a man snoring in the guest bedroom.

She’s home alone; her parents are traveling abroad, grieving her twin sister’s unexpected death. Instead of accompanying them, Beth stayed in Bynum to tend to her kindergarten and closely guard her own heart.

A beautiful and beloved member of the community, Beth is an unusual specimen for her time as she nears thirty and remains unmarried. She holds deep-seated unforgiveness toward her twin, Elise, who ran off with Beth’s beau. To make matters worse, Elise took their grandmother’s ring, which had been promised to Beth.

But now a stranger enters her home and her world. David Patrick Martin seems ready to break down her walls of indifference and find the core of Miss Beth Bettencourt. But can he be trusted with Beth’s past, her present, and more importantly, her future?

Excerpt

“Right on time,” her boss, Police Chief Brady Davis, said as he exited his office with a file folder in hand. “Follow me to the conference room.”

His request could only mean one thing. The identity of the newest addition to the PD was about to be revealed.

After Briana’s partner had left to work with fire and rescue as a paramedic, it had been a hush-hush process to find a replacement, which was over the top for Brady.

“I still don’t understand why you haven’t told me who it is,” Briana griped.

“I didn’t want to get ahead of myself. It took a lot of back-and-forth negotiations to get him to uproot his life and move here.”

So, it was a guy.

Brady pointed in the direction of the conference room. “Besides, you were off for a few days when I confirmed the hire.”

True. She’d taken a long weekend to spend quality time with her daughter. Most days she juggled a hectic schedule and from time to time took a long weekend to focus on Cami.

Since her daughter was only four, Briana didn’t want to miss any milestones, a worry that came with working long hours and being a single mom. Brady did his best to accommodate her schedule, instilling his philosophy that a happy home life made for more productive officers.

Briana dropped her bag by her desk and hurried to catch up with Brady who was striding across the room. “He’s finally here?”

“Yes,” Brady said over his shoulder. “That’s why I want you to join me.”

More curious than ever, a trait that made her good at her job but often got her into trouble, Briana caught up and followed Brady into the room. She stopped short when a tall, dark-haired man rose from the chair. His piercing blue eyes, so very familiar to Briana, shone with an intensity she’d never admit she missed.

“Briana.”

Her mouth dropped open, but she quickly regrouped to save face.

“Jackson?” she asked, trying to moderate her tone so the higher pitch didn’t reach into the frequency only dogs heard.

“This isn’t going to be awkward, is it?” Brady asked in a serious tone, a tone he rarely used unless he meant business. His gaze moved between the two.

She’d answer if she could find her voice.

A Girl's Guide to Having it All JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for A Girl’s Guide to Having it All by Leslie Kirby DeVooght, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About The Book

A Girl's Guide to Having It All

Title: A Girl’s Guide to Having it All
Series: Magnolia Bluff #3
Author: Leslie Kirby DeVooght
Publisher: Lanier Price Publishing
Release Date: April 30, 2026
Genre: Contemporary Women’s Fiction with Romance

She mastered her career. Finding a husband? Not so much.

High-powered political lobbyist Carleigh Chastain turns thirty-five with an impressive résumé, a packed calendar, and no love life to speak of. When her longtime friend—and former marriage-pact partner—Lawson announces he’s marrying a woman he barely knows, Carleigh does what any sensible best friend would do: she drops everything in DC and jets to Magnolia Bluff, Georgia, determined to save him from a costly mistake.

Instead, her plans unravel, forcing Carleigh to confront the choices she’s made—and the ones she’s avoided.

Meanwhile, Spencer MacDowell, her steady, loyal best friend since law school, is done waiting in the friend zone.

As faith, friendship, and romance collide, Carleigh wonders if she’s been too busy chasing success to notice where God—and her heart—have been pointing all along. Funny, heartfelt, and romantic, this story asks what “having it all” really means.

Excerpt

The first rays of the sun made the copper highlights glimmer amongst the waves of her dark auburn hair.

My fingers itched to thread their way through her long locks and draw her closer. “You go first.” As all the moisture in my mouth evaporated, I clasped my hands in my lap and observed how the flesh around my knuckles whitened.

“You’re the best. After college, I didn’t think I’d find another friend like Lawson. I don’t know how I scored two amazing guy friends. It’s too bad Lawson insists on living all the way in Georgia. I’m so glad I’ll be working in the same city as you, aanndd . . .” Carleigh drew out the one-syllable word.

We’d both taken jobs in DC and found the perfect apartments, but we’d been waiting to see if we got the units. I shot my gaze to her. “No way.”

Nodding wildly, her smile stretched across her face. “Yes, we got the apartments on the hill. We’ll be living across the hall from each other. Just like on Friends.”

Friends . . . friends . . . friends.

Carleigh was so happy, and to see her smile was worth the detour in our relationship.

I gathered her into a hug. “Fantastic.”

I just hoped we’d be more on the timeline of Monica and Chandler and not Ross and Rachel. But at least they all ended up together in the end.

Excerpt

“I found something.”

In a heartbeat, Liam crouched beside her. “What? Where?”

She pointed at the numbers, whipped through the possibilities, then matched each letter to its corresponding number. “G—N—I—T—N—I—A—P—E—H—T—D—N—I—H— E—B. Behind the painting.”

Liam blinked, eyes wide. “That was fast. How did you do that?”

“It was a simple A1Z26 cipher.”

“Sure, but how did you recognize it so quickly?”

Demi stood and faced the elderly gentleman’s portrait above them, popping her shoulder. “Dad and I spent a lot of time working through puzzles and riddles. I’m familiar with most types of ciphers, and my IQ is …” She let her words drift off. He didn’t need to know that. “Let’s put it this way. My IQ would make Einstein jealous.”

Liam covered his mouth and coughed. The space around his collar flushed. “Impressive.” “Sorry. I don’t mean to sound arrogant. You asked.”

“That should make escaping the Mystery House a breeze.” He gripped the edge of the frame. “Sorry, sir, for the intrusion.”

The portrait swung outward on invisible hinges.

Something clicked, and a burst of air whooshed past her cheek. A sharp sting pricked her skin. Her hand flew to her face.

Thunk!

Three darts embedded in the wall across the room.

She lowered her wet palm. Blood. Her leg strength threatened to give way. Dread washed over her like ice floes on the Great Lakes. Her lungs seized, and her voice squeaked.

“This isn’t a game.”

About The Book

The Girl Upstairs

Title: The Girl Upstairs
Author: Jessica R. Patch
Publisher: Harlequin Love Inspired Trade
Release Date: April 28, 2026
Genre: Psychological Thriller

“Jessica R. Patch weaves a dark, twisty tapestry that’s both unsettling and unexpectedly hopeful. Masterful.” –New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennan

She bought this house to save her marriage. Unearthing its secrets might just claim her life.

Gwen McDaniel’s life is broken. But she knows the perfect place to fix it. Cold Harbor, Maine, an idyllic small town with views of Acadia National Park, is where she used to vacation with her parents as a child. Here, she and Steven can start over, renovating their cliff-side fixer-upper while patching up their marriage. Soon, everything will be better.

Except from the moment they arrive, Gwen sees and hears things, and it’s more than just the drafts and shadows that are part of any old house. Steven downplays her fears, warning her not to fixate on problems as she has in the past. But Gwen spent years as a homicide detective, and her instincts don’t lie. Something happened here. Proof comes when she rips up the attic’s carpet to discover a chilling message carved into the wood underneath.

As Gwen delves into the history of the house and the Cold Harbor community, she begins to piece the fragments together. And gradually, a terrifying picture emerges: A missing girl. A house of horrors. And a dark, decades-old nightmare that is more haunting than Gwen ever imagined…

Excerpt

The house looms over the harbor, its whitewashed exterior faded. It perches on the bluff like something forgotten, left to rot against the salt and wind. The porch wraps around the front, its boards warped and buckling. I can tell they’ll protest beneath my feet when I approach. Two barrels of dead flowers flank the doors.

The windows are the worst—too many, too large. They stare blankly, smeared with age and dust, clouded, like the house has been watching for so long it’s gone blind.

According to Teresa, the house caught fire in 1980, but it was contained to the main floor’s primary room and the bathroom beside it. Tragic accident around Christmastime.

The roof curls at the edges, blackened with damp, and the chimney stands like a broken spine, bricks crumbling away one by one.

Behind it, the forest presses in. The trees of Acadia stand silent, the pines too still, the birches stripped bare like reaching bones.

Something about the house is jarring. Not just old or neglected. Plenty of houses wear their history in their walls, in their beams, in the way the air inside feels heavy with time, but this one feel like the years left behind something that never quite settled.

We finally step out of the vehicle. I stand a few feet from the porch steps. The wind shifts, cold and sudden, and I swear the house exhales. Like it’s been holding its breath.

Like it’s been expecting me.

Can one little girl…
Heal wounds from the past?

Landing a contractor job at New Hope Ranch finally allows Mitch Cooper to give his daughter, Gemma—who has a developmental delay—a stable home…if he can find reliable childcare. But when therapy horse trainer Aubrey Simpson eagerly offers to look after the three-year-old, Mitch finds himself hesitant to agree. Realizing Gemma is the baby she gave up for adoption, Aubrey will do anything to help the little girl—even spend time with her cautious father. But as unexpected feelings grow, will Aubrey reveal the truth…and risk her newfound family?

Excerpt

Maybe I shouldn’t have stepped in. Maybe that made Mitch look bad in front of the guys.

In her room, Aubrey was pondering what the next few weeks or months would bring for her, especially as the construction and renovations began to move into the areas she worked and taught in.

Her surroundings, as with all the places she’d lived in over the past few years since she’d had to give up her baby, were largely free from personal style and décor. She always tried to keep her living space as impersonal as possible so if she had to pick up and move on, she wouldn’t feel like she was leaving pieces of herself behind.

Her clientele was already starting to dwindle, as some decided they would prefer to start or continue lessons when the reno was fully completed. She knew the Duffys were doing their best to keep her busy and to assure her that she still had a role here, such as asking her to introduce Mitch to the workers and give him some tips about the horses, but there was no way those kinds of things were going to fill up her days.

This was the kind of situation that usually made her start getting restless, start looking elsewhere and thinking about where she could go next that would keep her busy enough to suppress the grief and remorse that never quite went away.

Welcome to the Blog Tour for Escape to Passignano by Normandie Fischer, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

About The Book

Escape to Passignano

Title: Escape to Passignano
Series: Carolina Coast Stories
Author: Normandie Fischer
Publisher: Sleepy Creek Press
Release Date: March 31, 2026
Genre: Christian Women’s Fiction

Can dreams be trusted when life feels like a nightmare?

Sophia chose to honor her deceased husband’s wishes by visiting his hometown of Passignano sul Trasimeno in the Umbrian region of Italy. She’s trying to find the peace he promised, really she is, while she studies his language and sips caffè with a view of mountains and lake. Only, things begin to happen involving a red-haired child who speaks of things she cannot know—and the child’s father whose very presence challenges that peace.

Dr. Luca Moretti still wrestles with guilt three years after the death of his wife and older children. Overwhelmed by grief, Luca gave the care of his toddler daughter, Noemi, to his sister. It was supposed to be temporary; it wasn’t. Now, Luca wants Noemi back.

When his sister flees, taking Noemi into hiding, Sophia joins forces with a desperate Luca to piece together dreams and voices and supernatural nudges to retrace Noemi’s steps. It’s going to take trust, though, something in short supply for both Luca and Sophia. They’ll have to learn to trust in one another, and, more importantly, to trust in God—that a God who would allow such pain really does mean to work it all out for good. For Noemi. For the two of them. And for a troubled woman from North Carolina who enters their orbit with her own demons, demons God uses—and dispels—as He wills.

Excerpt

 Luca

They’d been walking for miles, or so it seemed. All the voices of police and searchers had gone silent. Most had probably gone off toward the cliffs, and Luca choked back a momentary fear that they might have had a reason to do so.

Then he chided himself. Noemi would not have gone toward the sea. She would not have fallen down the rocks. She would not.

He had to believe the Lord was with them, leading them. That they would find her somewhere in here.

After all, the dream…

He called again; again only forest noises responded. They trudged on.

And then the sister called out. “The hut!”

Excited, Luca pushed forward past bushes toward the small stone building, alert to possible hiding places as he went. He checked the ground leading up to it, but couldn’t detect footprints. Perhaps, if she’d come here, it had been before the rain. He circled the building, pushing back bushes, until he came to a wooden door, but it was locked.

He blew out a sigh of frustration.

Sophia had continued to circle the small clearing. “I’m going to check this way,” she said, waving her phone flashlight in one direction. Mutters sounded as if she’d gotten caught in a bramble, and he headed after her.

He almost ran into her as she stopped abruptly. “Luca, look!”

He looked where she pointed. The beam of her flashlight was focused on the ground under a bramble bush. He bent to pick up the object she’d spotted.

About The Author

Normandie Fischer

Normandie Fischer had the best of several worlds: a Southern heritage, access to schooling in the DC area (which meant lots of cultural adventures), and several years of sculpture studies in Italy. It might have been better for her if she’d used all these opportunities more wisely, but it’s possible that the imperfect and the unwise also add fodder for the artist and the writer.

She writes Christian and Southern fiction as well as romantic suspense from her waterfront base in coastal North Carolina, where she lives with her husband, their two dogs, and a once-feral cat. If only her children and grandchildren lived within hailing distance, life would be just about perfect.
