November Book Club Pick — The Divine Proverb of Streusel

Is it really November already?! Time to plan for Thanksgiving, shop for Christmas presents, and decorate the house with holiday cheer. I am exhausted just thinking about it. LOL! What to do to escape all the doings of the holidays? Read a good book. This month it looks like my book club picked the perfect one. Take a look at The Divine Proverb of Streusel by Sara Brunsvold. Let me if you’ve read it and what you thought.

Shaken by her parents’ divorce and discouraged by the growing chasm between herself and her serious boyfriend, Nikki Werner seeks solace at her uncle’s farm in a small Missouri hamlet. She’ll spend the summer there, picking up the pieces of her shattered present so she can plan a better future. But what awaits her at the ancestral farm is a past she barely knows.

Among her late grandmother’s belongings, Nikki finds an old notebook filled with handwritten German recipes and wise sayings pulled from the book of Proverbs. With each recipe she makes, she invites locals to the family table to hear their stories about the town’s history, her ancestors–and her estranged father.

An Appalachian Girl Seeks a Place to Belong

October Book Club Pick — A Place to Land

This month’s book club pick is A Place to Land by Lauren K. Denton. Denton is a favorite for Southern and women’s fiction. We look forward to getting to know the people living in Sugar Bend, Alabama!

Violet Figg and her sister Trudy have lived a quiet life in Sugar Bend, Alabama, since a night forty years ago that stole Trudy’s voice and cemented Violet’s role as her sister’s fierce and loyal protector. September Book Club Pick — American Queen

After a summer of reading lots of suspense and women’s fiction, my book club is venturing into historical fiction with The American Queen by Vanessa Miller. I look forward to discovering new-to-me history and a riveting story. Find out all the details below.

August Book Club Pick — Cold Vengeance

My book club had a fun elimination game to pick this month’s book. Everyone put a title of a book in the basket and then drew. The last one chosen won! So in August we are reading Cold Vengeance by Nancy Mehl. Luckily I had read the first two books in the series, or I would be in a serious reading time crunch! Please join us in our discussion. April Book Club Selection — The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass

I am not fooling 😉 when I say I am really excited about this month’s book club selection! Montana is a long way away from Georgia, but author Katie Powner makes me feel right at home in her novels. I have already started this month’s selection, The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass. There is a colorful cast of characters, including a pot-bellied pig named Pearl. March Book Club Pick — A River Between Us

I am looking forward to this month’s book club pick, A River Between Us by Jocelyn Green. It has a Georgia setting, so it should bring out the inner state historians in our group. 😉 I’m anticipating a great story, learning a few things, and a good discussion. Have you read this book?
