Thanks to Bookhounds and I Am A Reader, Not A Writer for hosting the Freedom To Read Giveaway Hop! There are lots of bloggers celebrating our nation’s birthday by giving away books and bookish things. To check them out click HERE.
To celebrate, I am giving away a book that highlights our men and women and dogs in uniform — Ronie Kendig’s novel Trinity: Military War Dog. To enter, just leave a comment about your favorite 4th of July tradition. Good Luck!
A year ago in Afghanistan, Green Beret Heath Daniel’s career was destroyed. Along with his faith. Now he and his military war dog, Trinity, train other dogs and their handlers. Though his passion is to be back in action, the medical discharge has forced Heath-and Trinity-to the sidelines. Military intelligence officer Darci Kintz is captured while secretly tracking the Taliban. Only one dog can handle the extreme conditions to save her. Trinity. Only one man can handle Trinity. Time is running out on the greatest-and most dangerous-mission of their lives.

My favorite Fourth of July tradition as I was growing up was having a neighborhood cook-out. Living in my house and the houses on both sides of us were multiple children of similar ages, so our three families became close. We would have a cook-out in one of our back yards with each family contributing to the menu. It was a great time of food, fun, and fellowship. As it grew dark, we’d go to view community fireworks.
Eating homemade ice cream with all the neighbors (who were family) and shooting fireworks

We like to grill some food and then go to the fireworks.
My favorite tradition is decorating in red, white and blue and putting out little flags. We cookout or go to the neighbor’s who cooks a pig and we bring a dish, play games, get in the pool and he does the most amazing fireworks display by his pond. Thanks for participating in the Freedom to Read hop!!! Happy birthday USA!
