My Impressions:
Beth Wiseman’s second contemporary book, The House That Love Built, again proves that this talented author of acclaimed Amish fiction can write in other genres. I liked everything about this book, and I am betting you will too.
Owen Saunders has moved to the little town of Smithville to renovate an old house — to spite his ex-wife! His very bitter divorce has soured him on ever having another relationship. Brooke Holloway’s marriage was wonderful, until it ended with the death of her husband. Both of these characters are attracted to each other, but decide friendship is the only option for them. The over-arching theme of second chances extends not only to Owen and Brooke, but Brooke’s parents, a young man named Hunter and others in this tiny Texas town.
As I said, I liked everything about this book — the characters, the setting, and the themes of forgiveness and second chances. The love story that develops is natural, not forced. And there are some surprising revelations along the way. If you like contemporary romance, small town charm, or just a really good story, pick up The House That Love Built.
