Top 10 Tuesday — Train Vibes

6 Sep

I am going way off script today in anticipation of my trip to the UK next week. We were supposed to have a planes, trains, and automobiles adventure, but learned that there will be an industrial action the days we were to get on board for two destinations. In the US that would be called a strike! At least they were polite about it and we were given a bit of a heads up. 😉 So it was to the car rental sites we went. We looked for a silver lining to having to drive on the wrong side of the road and navigate the roundabouts (on the wrong side), and found a few. Some train scenes from novels came to mind. You know the ones where orphans were transported across the country without their parent’s permission, the harrowing natural disasters, accidents, bombs, murders, and, of course, serial killers. Maybe planes and automobiles will be enough. 😉 Check out my list of novels with all the train vibes.

That’s a fun list, even if it is “off script” 🙂 I’ve read Murder on the Orient Express and Orphan Train, of these. Trains really are fascinating, aren’t they? Bummer that you had to change your travel plans 🙁 I hope it’ll be a fun trip anyway!

Orphan Train was such a good read. I like your train theme, too.

I live in the UK, it definitely is a strike, they just like to call it industrial action for some reason! Sorry that you’ve had to change your plans, but hope you still have a great visit. Where are you planning on going?

When my friend said industrial action, I immediately thought maintenance. LOL! We land in London and spend 2 nights there, then we are off to York and Edinburgh. The most exciting part of the trip is to Shetland! Can’t wait to see the ponies. LOL!

When I read the beginning of your post, I immediately thought of With You Always! 🙂 I have a bit of a fascination with trains, and I see I need to add a few of these to my TBR.

I hope you have a FANTASTIC time in the UK (even without the train rides). I’m looking forward to your photos.

Great list and interesting prompt. I don’t know the books you listed, but these covers are really gorgeous and they seem interesting. I can’t remember any books with train vibes I read except for The Girl in the Train…

I love this topic! I loved Threadgill’s book and several of these are new to me!

Your list made me realize that I’ve actually read quite a few books set on trains. I’m not sure what about them intrigues me so much (since I’m not a huge fan of trains IRL)…I guess the sense of adventure they invoke? At any rate, I’ve read a couple of the books on you list and will need to try out several of the others. Great list!

    Happy TTT!

I read Jody’s back when it was a new release. Never picked up the others in that series, but I do seem to remember I liked book one. 🙂
