“Hey.” Kathryn glared at the man. “You don’t know him, and you don’t know me. And I’m not about to take relationship advice from a man who has to use a gun to get a woman to go with him.”
When the stranger spoke, every word was an icy finger trailing up and down her spine. “If I were you, I’d keep my mouth shut, lady. You do not want to make me mad.”
“Maybe you don’t want to make me mad, either.” Defiance was useless, given the odds, but Kathryn drew strength from it anyway.
The man snorted. “Oh, I think I’ve already done that. The difference is,” he leaned forward and stroked her cheek with the barrel of the gun. “If I get angry, I can do something about it.”
