I’ve been considering this post for a few weeks now and have not been able to come up with 10 Reading/Bookish Resolutions. I’ve never been very good at making or keeping resolutions in the past, so there is no expectation that this year will be any different! 😉 But I do know that I need to make a few changes to my reading time and habits, so here are a few things that I may be a bit successful in tackling.

Top 3 Reading Resolutions

1.) Trust is the word. I have seen a few people across social media that have chosen a key word to focus on in 2016. I struggle with trusting God — I tend to worry and try to create scenarios to solve problems, even those I do not have the remotest chance of controlling. So my word is TRUST. I started yesterday by making a list of scripture in which trust is mentioned. I am going to try to work through those verses, including contextual verses, to see what God has to say to me about my trust issues. Yesterday, just one day into the exercise, I had my eyes opened and my heart convicted. Looks to be a great year for God to teach me about Himself and His relationship with me.

2.) Less is more. I read over 175 books last year, and I think that may be too much. I felt harried and hurried by the end of 2015 and found little enjoyment in what I was reading, even those books that were exceptional. I am going to scale down my review obligations and take time to savor books. I want to give the books I read the time they deserve. This process will take a bit of time since I started scheduling reviews for the first few months of 2016 back in 2015. But hopefully by March or April I will be on a more balanced and relaxed reading schedule.

3.) May I have some more? Okay, I know I just said that I was going to read less this year. And I promise to try! But of the books I read, I want to read more of what I already own. I made those purchases on purpose. Now I just need to discover the gems that are hiding on my shelves.

So there you have it — 3 Reading Resolutions for 2016. What are some of yours?

I’ve seen someone else list “listen” as their word of the year, and I loved it. But I think the word I NEED is “trust,” for the same reasons. Good luck with your list!

Listen is good too and goes right along with Trust. Maybe if I get through Trust before the end of the year, I will tackle that one. Thanks so much for stopping by!
