Friday Hop

7 Jan

It’s a New Year and it’s a New Hop!  Jennifer at Crazy for Books hosts a weekly meme for bloggers to talk about books, books  and more books.  This week’s question is:

“What book influenced or changed your life?

How did it influence/change you?”

This is a really great question, but so hard to answer.  Books have had such a great influence on my entire life.   The Very Little Girl is the first book I can remember owning and.  It is what got me to read, read, read.   Nancy Drew mysteries got me reading for the challenge of it.  Tolkein’s The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings introduced me to new and exciting worlds.  Pride and Prejudice showed me the eloquence of the English language.  The Bible has strengthened, nourished, comforted, and stretched me as an adult.

I am so thankful to parents that read to me, took me to the library, bought me books for Christmas and birthdays. And for my Godmother Caroline who recognized the value of reading and gave me books that fostered the love of reading.  Books have been my constant companions all these looong years!  And I am thankful for that.

It’s so important to nourish reading in children. I think everyone has a book that got them started. I love your library story!
Popping in from the blog hop.
    Happy Friday!

Well, it didn’t occur to me as the first thing, either :)! But it is the most important book in my life.
