BLOG HOPPER FRIDAY

Book Blogger Hop

It’s BLOG HOPPER FRIDAY!  Click on the the link above to see what others are reading and saying about books.  The hop goes on all weekend so check out the great blogs!

The question this week is: Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes?

When I was younger, I always read with music as a background.  It is funny now when I listen to the oldies station and hear a tune from back in the day.  It immediately takes me back to the book I was reading.  Now, however, the accompanment to my book reading is the TV show hubby or the kids are watching. I generally tune everything out when I am reading.

That’s so cool, I wish I could tune things out I’d probably be reading more that way! 😀

Just stopped over from the Blog Hop.
That’s one reason I can’t listen to music while reading because every song I recognize will pull me out of my book. I don’t know how people manage to listen to music while reading.

Hopping by – like you I have learned to tune it all out – if I didn’t I would never get any reading done at home.

Just Hopping by. I prefer silence myself or else I will get interested in whatever is going on be it a show or a song (unless it is sports, I can pretty well tune that out).

I love this question! Like so much of life, “it depends…” I don’t listen to music much while reading, I realize. I can listen to music, I guess, if I’m reading fiction, but boy, if I’m reading non-fiction, no way. It would be too distracting. I’m reading a book now that’s very thought-provoking and spiritual, about Christian living and living an ethical life. (It’s Principled Centered Living,” by the Rev. Dr. Sheldon Williams.) No music for me, right now! But I’m really enjoying his discussion about compromises, how we give away personal power and affect our core values and our reasons for having values in the first place — and how to live an ethical life. He even includes how to use daily reminders to create new habits and stay on track.

Happy reading everyone — with or without music!

Hi. I found you on the hop. It’s nice to find a blog with some good Christian literature on it. I just added “Imagianary Jesus” and “Flight To Heaven” to my tbr list. I’m bookmarking your site so I can come back when I have more time. Thanks for the recommendations!

Thanks for the comments. I loved Imaginary Jesus! Am now reading Jungle Sunrise which (although a totally different genre) has the same vibe as IJ. review on Jungle Sunrise 8/17.

I often read while my family’s watching TV.

Happy Friday. Come see how I listen to music when I read.

Before DVR, I read doing the commercials. I can only tune things out when I’m home. When I’m out and about, I tend to play music to prevent the distractions.

Discovered your blog via the Hop

I’m the same. I switch on music but tend to tune out everything.
